Visitor Visa: Temporary Travel Permission

A Visitor Visa (which is frequently referred to as Tourist or Schengen visa for Europe) enables you to travel to a foreign country for a short visit for non-immigrant purposes such as tourism, visit friends/relatives or short duration events. It does NOT make it possible for you to work or study long-term.

Key Aspects:

  • Purpose: You need to be here for a legitimate limited time (e.g. a holiday, to visit family, a short business trip)
  • Validity: Normally issued for a short time (e.g., 15-90 days), single or multiple entry.
  • No Right to Work/Study: Work or study is not permitted as part of this visa.

General Application Procedure(Bangladeshi Nationals applying from outside):

Specific documents vary by country, but in general you will need:

  • Passport: with at least 6 months of remaining validity and available pages for visa process.
  • Application Form: Completed and signed visa application form. Many countries have online forms.

    • For Traveling: detailed itinerary of tourist attractions.

  • In Process: This can take a long time (from a few days to a few weeks). Never book a non-refundable flight before you know your visa has been accepted.

Common Reasons for Visitor Visa Refusal (mainly for Bangladeshi applicants):

Below, I list a few reasons why visitors’ visa applications are refused:

  • Not Enough Money: You Money is not enough for the trip.
  • Weak Ties to Bangladesh: Inability to persuade the visa officer that you will return home.
  • Deficient/Wrong Application: Documents not attached or wrong/false information.
  • Insufficient Funds for Travel: Generic or conflicting purpose of travel.
  • Prior Visa Violations: Precedent of overstay or violating terms in other countries.
  • Passport: Damaged passport, passport has less than six months validity, or no blank pages.

Always tell true what you have to say, all information should be identical and reason of returning back to Bangladesh must be strong.
